Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action we’re on hand to provide our best advice for Fantasy Premier League, selecting four options we believe should be the leading contenders for your crucial captaincy.

It’s the penultimate gameweek of the Fantasy Premier League season and it’s a big one, with time running out to earn the precious points that could be decisive in the final standings. With some of the division’s leading sides in action twice, it is more important than ever to get the key decisions right.

We look at four of the best captaincy options for Gameweek 37 of the Fantasy Premier League season.

Erling Haaland vs Chelsea (H) and Brighton (A)

Erling Haaland. Double gameweek.

This one here is pretty self explanatory.

Fantasy Premier League managers run the risk of rotation as Pep Guardiola’s side compete on multiple fronts this season, but expect Haaland to be the overwhelming leader when it comes to captaincy selections this weekend.

Haaland has blanked just once in his last seven appearances for Manchester City and has returned 63 points across that run, averaging nine points per appearance. City can secure the Premier League title with a win at home to Chelsea this weekend and the Norwegian will no doubt be keen to make his mark and confirm City’s coronation at the Etihad.

It’s 52 goals for the season in all competitions for Haaland, in case you’d lost count.

Ilkay Gundogan vs Chelsea (H) and Brighton (A)

Ilkay Gundogan offers an alternative to Haaland at Manchester City this weekend with the midfielder having once again found form across the run-in

Gundogan has back-to-back double figure hauls after braces against Leeds and Everton, recording a season-high of 19 points last time out at Goodison Park. No player in the Premier League has more goal contributions (6) than Gundogan this month and the German often appears to save his best football for the campaign’s conclusion.

For those chasing a differential gain in the final weeks of the season, Gundogan could be an inspired gamble.

Marcus Rashford vs Bournemouth (A) and Chelsea (H)

Marcus Rashford’s fitness will determine his popularity heading into Gameweek 37, with the Manchester United forward having missed the club’s 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s team face a double header in GW37 as the Red Devils take on Bournemouth and Chelsea, in need of results to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.

Rashford is the club’s leading scorer in all competitions and has 29 goals for the season. His return has slowed since an explosive period post-World Cup, but no Manchester United player has returned more points (22) across their last four appearances.

Bruno Fernandes could be an interesting alternative should Rashford not return this weekend. The Portugal international’s six goals this season are his lowest return since signing for the Red Devils, but he leads the Premier League for chances created (108) and could be on penalty duties.

Callum Wilson vs Leicester (H)

Callum Wilson might have just one fixture in Gameweek 37, but a home clash against Leicester adds to his appeal on current form.

Wilson has been in spectacular form for Newcastle in recent weeks and has scored 10 goals in his last nine appearances for the Magpies, including a brace against Leeds last time out. The forward has netted that return despite starting just five of those fixtures and has averaged a goal every 46 minutes since the start of April.

Meanwhile, Leicester have struggled defensively this season and have conceded 10 goals in their last three Premier League games. The Foxes are without a clean sheet since November 12 and facing an increasingly difficult task to remain in the top flight.
