Today before deadline, we take a look at the top 3 players from the top 6 team of the previous season.
Let’s start with the champions of last season…
(we will try to be brief about our picks, sticking to FPL-centric stats that can help elevate your thoughts to the best FPL squad)
Manchester City
Erling Haaland (£14.0m) – Not sure how much needs to be said about him, his E.O is now 86%, not only is he a must, but he can also hurt your rank if you don’t keep him. Too much of a risk – so just buy him it’s a no brainer. We can get into all the specifics about his stats and how he is not involved in the game but he needs only a moment to get some most important touches of the game.
John Stones (£5.5m) – Currently he is not 2nd highest owned City asset, but we need to be cautious here. He has only played 7 games in a row at best. And he’s injury prone. Personally, I stay away from him for the time being. However, he is one of the best city defenders, if you are willing to risk a niggle – he is a good asset.
KDB (£10.5m) – He’s fit as we saw in the community shield, but still a big minutes risk understanding the Belgian is still returning and his play-time will be monitored.
Special Mention – If you want a solid player, who will play a lot of mins, I would look at Ruben Diaz he’s the most nailed city defender

Arsenal
Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) – FPL has made a mistake on his price at 8.5M, he’s a steal. He’s on pens, and will surely be involved in attacking returns. Like Haaland he’s a must in FPL teams.
Gabriel Magalhães (£5.0m) – Currently the 2nd most owned Arsenal player, has a lot of attacking threat and took most shots on goal last season by any defender. He’s a lock for me.
Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) – Arsenal’s highest scoring player from last season currently the 3rd most owned player, but this spot can go even to a Martinelli (£8.0m) or Trossard (£7.0m) but the 2 will share minutes, and that’s a risk in my eyes.
Note – Declan Rice who will be a great addition to Arsenal but he’s not the best FPL assets since he’s a defensive Mid. Not great for FPL. We suggest not picking him.
Arsenal Fixtures
GW-1 Nott’m Forest (home)

These fixtures scream points, we suggest to go for an Arsenal triple up.
Manchester United
Marcus Rashford (£9.0m) – The highest owned United player so far whose is 48% of teams. Similar to Haaland another must have in your team. And is set for another big season.
Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) – Another United player who is very highly owned. Personally, he’s not a must have but is a good pick.
Luke Shaw (£5.5m)/Andre Onana (£5.0m) – Both these players have similar ownership, if you are struggling on a cheap goalkeeper then Onana could be a good option. And Luke Shaw has always been someone who has more than decent attacking returns around the season on consistent basis when he is fit.
Man United Fixtures
GW-1 Wolves (home)
GW-2 Spurs (away)
GW-3 Nott’m Forest (home)
GW-4 Brighton (home)
GW-5 Burnley (away)
GW-6 Crystal palace (home)
Newcastle United
With Newcastle this season, since they are in the UCL, things are as straight forward as it gets.
Kieran Tripper (£6.5m) – He is a must have player, but one should look to bring him in from GW5 or GW6. For his price at 6.5 M, he does not make the cut for the first few weeks. Clean sheets won’t be so easy in the first part of their season.
Sven Botman (£4.5m) – Had a great season last time. And he’s an interesting option. For people who pick Estupinan then Botman and him have a good rotation. Botman makes my team for this reason only.
Alexander Isak (£7.5m)/Callum Wilson (£8.0m) – Either of these guys are good, but both are minutes’ risk. So, the best approach for both of them is a wait and see who has the upper-hand on expected returns. By the Gameweek 5, we should have a clear idea about it.
Newcastle Fixtures

Liverpool
After an ordinary season last year, they will be looking to set things right this time around.
Mo Salah (£12.5m) – Not much to be said about the King of Egypt, his last 6 seasons are proof of him price tag. A must have 2nd premium who’s on pens too. Though having him alongside Erling Haaland means you have to keep in some cheap assets for your bench.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.0m) – He’s always going to be a highly owned player but this season his price is 8M, not so easy to fit in most sides. Plus, Liverpool defence still has a lot to prove. With him it’s a wait and see.
Darwin Nunez (£7.5m) – Currently is the 3rd most owned player, but he will be a minutes risk. Klopp has been quite open about this.
Note – We recommend Jota (£8.0m) rather than a Darwin who has a lot of attacking threat.

Gw-6 West Ham (home)
Brighton
Pervis Estupinan (£5.0m) – The highest owned asset from Brighton who has a lot of attacking threat and considering their fixtures. He’s a lock. One can even bench him in GW-4 and 5 and play Botman instead (if you are opting for such alternative as me).
Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – Had a great season last time, and looks to continue his form. He will be carrying the team this time since Mac Alistair has left. And at 6.5 M he gives managers a lot of balance in the side.
Joao Pedro (£5.5m) – He’s going to be the penalty taker, and at 5.5M he’s a steal. And will give you balance to go heavy in your midfield.
