Manchester United suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Liverpool in their final pre-season game of their United States Tour with the midfield crumbling at crucial junctures.
Casemiro struggled once again and it is clear to see that the Brazilian is not the right fit anymore and despite Erik ten Hag remaining open to keeping him, INEOS are doing the right thing by trying to move him on.
However, despite the former Real Madrid superstar’s agent trying his best to get his client a move to the Saudi Pro League, no bids have come in.
United are desperate to raise funds through sales so that they can make their move to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte but with moving the five-time Champions League winner on proving difficult, they are looking at alternative ways to raise cash.
McTominay in demand
Despite the manager praising Scott McTominay, the academy graduate remains the most in-demand United star at the moment with Fulham and Galatasaray locked in talks with the Red Devils over a summer swoop.
The Cottagers’ two bids have fallen short of United’s valuation and there are murmurs that that Craven Cottage side might start looking elsewhere if the team from Old Trafford do not make an attempt to lower their price.
The Turkish side has also seen multiple derisory bids get rejected and as per The Sun, they are ready to go after Manchester City’s struggling midfielder Kalvin Phillips instead.
“MANCHESTER CITY flop Kalvin Phillips is a target for Turkey’s Galatasaray. The Premier League champions want to find a club for the midfielder, 28, who has struggled since his £45million move to the Etihad in July 2022.
“Italian side Roma, Germans RB Leipzig and their Austrian sister club RB Salzburg have all been linked with moves for Phillips.
Gala want Kalvin instead
“And now Galatasaray have joined the race after supposedly seeing a below par £12.6million offer for Manchester United’s Scott McTominay rejected.”
This could mean the end of Gala’s interest in McTominay who may end up staying due to United’s valuation of £30 million. Whether INEOS reduce their asking price remains to be seen.
With Ugarte possibly available on a loan along with Sofyan Amrabat, there might not be any need to move on the 10-goal hero any longer.
Casemiro, on the other hand, remains a liability and needs to be shown the door irrespective of the loss incurred on the club’s initial investment.
