Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness is expecting Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea will make it through to the Champions League quarter-finals after the draw for the round of 16 was made.
Pep Guardiola’s side will face RB Leipzig, Spurs take on AC Milan while Chelsea are set to go up against Borussia Dortmund, with Souness predicting that all three teams will be favourites for their ties:
“I think Chelsea, City and Tottenham will be fine. AC Milan are a shadow of what they were.”
The fourth English club, Liverpool, meanwhile, will take on Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s final, and Souness is far less confident about his former team’s chances of beating their opponents:
“For Liverpool, it’s a name, it’s what that name conjures up. They seem to be be able, even when they’re not going well domestically, they can turn up in those games. They seem to have a way of winning. It really depends what Liverpool will be playing.
Most City fans believe that they couldn’t have got a better tie than RB Leipzig. Of course, there is no room for complacency but, considering that they could have faced the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and AC Milan (who all came second in their groups), it is an excellent draw for the Citizens.
