Sky Germany reports that former Bayern Munich and German national team head coach Hansi Flick is on the verge of becoming Barcelona’s new manager.
It is expected that Xavi will leave the Catalan side at the end of the season, despite the former midfielder stating that he will stay at the side after he had announced he would leave in February.
The board at Barcelona have informed Flick that he will take charge of the club next season.
In club management, Flick had a very successful spell at Bayern Munich as he helped them win six trophies in a year, including a treble in his first season. However, his last job as Germany’s head coach was far from successful as he led them to a second consecutive group stage exit at the World Cup and they struggled overall in their preparation for Euro 2024.
Flick’s move to Barcelona will see him reunite with Robert Lewandowski who he helped beat Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga goal-scoring record as well as Ilkay Gundogan, who he made captain of the German national team.
