Sporting Kansas City hit the road to take on Houston Dynamo in MLS Cup playoffs action at Shell Energy Stadium on November 26.
SKC did the unthinkable in their first round best-of-three series, sweeping the number one seed in the Western Conference in St Louis CITY, who just completed their inaugural season in MLS. The impressive performances against the formidable side by Peter Vermes’ team stunned the MLS world, and they’ll have to be on the same page to get a result against their second round opponents.
Houston got the better of Real Salt Lake in the first round, winning the series 2-1 thanks to two home victories with Amine Bassi, Hector Herrera and Corey Baird contributing their fair share to advance in the playoffs.

The Dynamo have no new injury concerns ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, which will be music to head coach Ben Olsen’s ears.

Both teams continued to improve as the regular season unfolded, and only one will be advancing to the next round of the postseason. Kansas City’s struggles in the first half of the season can be attributed to several long-term injuries, while the Dynamo remained healthy for most of the campaign.
As we’ve seen before in MLS, home advantage is a real thing, and the Houston supporters will get behind their team becoming the 12th man. The Dynamo will win comfortably at home, with the visitors’ cinderella season coming to an end.
