Jack Grealish says that the Manchester City squad “love being with each other” and that has helped the team succeed on the pitch.

The England playmaker’s comments come after Man City qualified for the knockout phase of the Uefa Champions League with a 3-0 win over BSC Young Boys on Tuesday night.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring by converting a penalty in the 23rd minute, before Phil Foden doubled the home side’s lead just before the break.

The Norwegian striker grabbed his second of the night shortly after the second half got underway, netting his 38th goal in the competition in just 34 appearances.

Moments later the night went from bad to worse for the Swiss outfit, who ended the game with zero shots, as Sandro Lauper received his second booking of the night for a late challenge.

“Every year we have so many games,” Grealish told TNT Sports. “Obviously, we are not in the Carabao Cup now, but most of the time we are in all the competitions. To qualify with two games to spare, that is what we wanted to do.

“He [Pep Guardiola] gives us so much. In my opinion, he is the best manager in the world. He has shown that over the years. But you can have the best manager in the world, you also need the team.

“And that is what we have, a brilliant team on the pitch but also off the pitch we have a brilliant team that is so close. We love being with each other every day and playing with each other.”

Man City travel to Stamford Bridge this Sunday to take on Chelsea in the Premier League.
