France Football have announced the nominations for the Kopa Trophy with Jamal Musiala and Xavi Simons the current Bundesliga players nominated.

Musiala was a key player for Bayern Munich last season as they went on to win the Bundesliga. Without the 20-year-old, it could of been a completely different story as his late winner against 1.FC Köln on the final day of the season secured Bayern their 11th Bundesliga in a row.

Last season, Musiala played 47 times and finished with 16 goals and 16 assists, it wasn’t just Bayern where he shined. In his first World Cup, he was Germany’s stand-out player as they were eliminated at the group stages.

RB Leipzig’s new signing Xavi Simons is also nominated. The 20-year-old has already shown his quality having played three games in the Bundesliga and provided two goals and three assists. Simons’ nomination comes from his time at PSV Eindhoven last season where he finished as the Eredivisie top scorer and played a role in PSV’s KNVB Cup win.

While the only former Bundesliga player nominated is Jude Bellingham. The midfielder was crucial in Borussia Dortmund’s push for the title last season and his presence in the team is sorely missed this season. Bellingham also proved to be crucial for England as well playing in every game as the team reached the quarter finals.
