Jude Bellingham discusses the end of a crazy Bundesliga season and what the last five games of the season mean to him and Borussia Dortmund.
Going into this weekend, Dortmund start the weekend in pole position, something many didn’t see coming. However, thanks to Bayern Munich’s 3-1 loss at Mainz 05 and BVB’s dominant 4-0 display against Eintracht Frankfurt, the summit changed once again. Dortmund’s fate is now in their own hands.
The 19-year-old makes no secret about the crazy nature of this season. Speaking to Bundesliga.com, he explains: “Last week we were out of the race, we were stone dead. During the week before that, we had a chance. The week before that we were out and dead.”
The English international wants to keep a clear head and not get too carried away with the situation. “There’s no point in being too happy and too angry,” says Bellingham. It’s this maturity which has enabled him to become one of the world’s top young talents.
It goes without saying that Bundesliga Meisterschale would mean the world to Bellingham, the players, and the fans. However, the youngster’s focus is on hard work rather than daydreams.
Bellingham explains: “I don’t want to talk about it too much and put myself in a position where I feel like I’ve already won because there are five really tough games left, whichever way you look at it.”
The BVB maestro concludes by saying: “None of us dreamed of being first after 29 games. The dream is to be first after 34 games.”
Dortmund get this weekend’s action underway on Friday when they travel to VfL Bochum.
