Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that forward Karim Adeyemi will not be available for several weeks due to injury.

Adeyemi suffered a partial tear of the syndesmosis ligament in the Champions League fixture against Paris Saint Germain last week. He continued to play in the match after the initial collision and went on to score for Dortmund but eventually left the pitch in pain.

The German missed the last fixture against Augsburg but it has been confirmed that he will also be unavailable for the next few fixtures.

Marco Reus also suffered the same injury before and was out for more than two months, but the club are hopeful of a return to training in January for Adeyemi.

“He won’t be able to play for the rest of this year. We just hope that he will be back in training with the team as soon as possible in January”, said head coach Edin Terzic.

Dortmund now have to prepare for their upcoming fixture tomorrow night against Mainz, who stopped Terzic’s side from winning the Bundesliga title on the final day last season.
