Liverpool and Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish concedes most Premier League teams would be “stupid” not to inquire about Ange Postecoglou’s services but questioned why he would give up titles with the Bhoys for potential relegation battles.

Since arriving at Celtic in July 2021, Postecoglou has won the hearts of Hoops fans across the globe having introduced his eye-catching brand of football that brings goals, victories and, most importantly, trophies.

Postecoglou’s side are also well on their way to securing the Scottish treble this season having already wrapped up the Scottish League Cup, are nine points clear of Rangers in the league and face their heated rivals in the semi-finals of the Scottish FA Cup.

That’s why it’s no surprise the Australian boss has earned several admirers in the Premier League this season.

Postecoglou has been linked with multiple openings in the English top flight at various stages including Brighton, Leeds, Wolves, Everton and has even been name-dropped in articles regarding the soon-to-be vacant gig at Spurs.

However, Dalglish, who made over 200 appearances for Celtic and scored 111 goals for the club, can’t see why Postecoglou would give up European football and the chance of winning titles just to scrap for survival each season.

“They’d be stupid not to ask him, but as someone said, it’s manners to wait until you’re asked,” Dalglish said, via The Scotsman.

“Even if he was asked, I don’t know if he would go.

“Are you trying to say that Celtic isn’t as big an adventure as some of the clubs that were allegedly interested in him?

“Why would he go down to the Premier League to get relegated, or to one of the teams threatened with relegation. He’d rather be at Celtic looking to win trophies.

“But it always comes up, when you’re doing well, there’s always someone else interested. And so they should be.”
