Lennon Miller is undoubtedly one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football and Motherwell have an absolute gem on their hands. The 17-year-old has already amassed over 2,500 senior minutes and he possesses a maturity – both on and off the pitch – that defies his years.

Miller’s impressive performances and ability to play in a variety of midfield roles has already alerted the attention of several English Premier League clubs. An exciting future lies ahead for Miller and Transfermarkt have analysed the Motherwell youngster that you need to keep an eye on.

How good is Lennon Miller?

Motherwell have earned a reputation for developing youngsters and unlike other teams in the Scottish Premiership, they’ve historically been willing to trust their academy graduates with first-team opportunities. Miller is widely regarded as the best young talent to progress through Motherwell’s academy since David Turnbull and he possesses a higher ceiling than the Cardiff City midfielder.

The Scotland youth international has the physicality to thrive in a robust league while his technical ability and excellent awareness allows him to navigate out of tight situations in midfield and he uses the ball intelligently. Miller is currently the second most valuable Scottish teenager with a Transfermarkt value of €1.5 million but that’s set to rise in the next update and he will command a higher transfer fee when he departs Fir Park.

How much do Motherwell want for Lennon Miller?

Motherwell are under no pressure to sell Miller during the current transfer window and their finances were boosted by the sale of Theo Bair earlier this summer. The Canadian international was signed on a free transfer last summer but Motherwell sold him for €1.9m to Auxerre – their third record departure in history.

Transfermarkt understands that Motherwell won’t entertain offers less than their record sale of €3 million from David Turnbull’s departure to Celtic in 2020. With an abundance of clubs monitoring Miller’s development, it’s believed that Motherwell could command a fee in the region of €4-5 million for their prized asset. The record sale for a Scottish club outside the Old Firm in the last ten years is Calvin Ramsay’s €4.9m move from Aberdeen to Liverpool in 2022.

Miller, however, is in no rush to leave Motherwell as he’s fully conscious that he can continue his superb development at Fir Park and he reiterated this commitment in an interview with Sky Sports last week. He said: “Obviously the transfer window is always going to come with rumours. For me personally, I just kind of put it to the one side. I really love it here at Motherwell. They’ve given me a platform to express myself and I just love it here. I’m looking to start the season well.”

Which clubs are interested in Lennon Miller?

Naturally when a young player emerges in Scotland, Celtic and Rangers have been linked. Whether the Old Firm or the Scottish Premiership is the best place for Miller’s development is extremely questionable, especially when there is interest from English top-flight and European clubs. Transfermarkt understands that Liverpool are amongst several Premier League clubs to have monitored Miller in recent months with Newcastle, Brighton and Tottenham also tracking the Motherwell starlet. Liverpool have been extremely alert to emerging Scottish talent across recent years taking the aforementioned Ramsay and Ben Doak to Anfield, while Dundee United kid Alan Domeracki was also on their radar.
