Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that Leon Goretzka will replace Joshua Kimmich as Bayern Munich’s No. 6 against Bochum on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Nagelsmann said: “Leon has played this role a couple of times. He has a slightly different physicality, especially in the air. Leon knows what he has to do.”
Kimmich was sent off for a second-bookable offence in Bayern Munich’s 4-2 win at Wolfsburg last weekend and is therefore suspended, missing tomorrow’s game. Nagelsmann confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch, who could have been an option, will also miss Bayern’s game, but is expected to resume team training on Sunday, and will be available against PSG in midweek.
Heading into the weekend, Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga by just one point, with Union Berlin second. Borussia Dortmund are just three points behind in third, whilst RB Leipzig, who play Union on Saturday, are four points behind the Rekordmeister in fourth.
For the first time in a long time, it feels as though we finally have a title race on in the Bundesliga.
