Liverpool have been told that they have pulled off one of the “biggest bargains in Premier League” history as Stefan Bajcetic is an “outstanding” talent.

Bajcetic has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this campaign. He has emerged as a key player in recent weeks and he has played 15 times this season.

Liverpool have struggled this term but the 18-year-old has been a shining light for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Spaniard has barely put a foot wrong and he shone as Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 in the Merseyside derby earlier this month. Speaking after the win, Klopp praised the midfielder for “showing up”.

“I saw a lot of good performances tonight but Stefan showed up,” Klopp said post-match.

“We are really happy with him, a top boy, really smart and calm. He played in a new position, at eight, and I asked him afterwards if he liked it and he said yes. It is a nice story.”

The teenager came through the ranks at Spanish side Celta Vigo but he signed for Liverpool in 2020. It is understood that the Premier League side only paid around £225,000 to recruit the youngster.

Patrik Berger played just short of 200 times for Liverpool between 1996 and 2003. He has unsurprisingly been massively impressed by Bajcetic and he feels that he could go down as one of the “biggest bargains” in the history of the Premier League.

“I think Bajcetic is already showing he will be one of the biggest bargains in Premier League history,” Berger told Betting Sites.

“Injuries gave him the chance initially but since he came up from the youth team he has grasped the opportunity brilliantly. He adapted so well and so quickly and that’s why Klopp likes him so much.

“Against Everton, he was the star player in the team and in a tough game away from home against Newcastle he was outstanding as well. I think he can be one of the main players for Liverpool in the future.

Berger also suggested that Bajcetic will “make himself invaluable to the team” and he already should be starting over former Bayern Munich and Barcelona star Thiago Alcantara.

“If you look at the numbers over the past couple of seasons not many of Liverpool’s midfield create or score goals,” Berger added.

“It’s all left to the front three players. So if Bajcetic can do that he will make himself invaluable to the team. It’s a long season but I would rather see him playing than Thiago.

“He’s young, he’s fresh and he’s proved that he can play in the starting XI with no concerns. He would be my choice.”
