Man Utd and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters, who is ‘pushing’ for a transfer.
The Red Devils have been linked with several right-backs over the past few months and Walker-Peters is the latest.
They were keen to recruit a new right-back in the summer as Erik ten Hag made it pretty clear that he was not a fan of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Diogo Dalot has been ahead of him in the pecking order this season and the Portugal international has been one of their better performers.
Before the New Year, Wan-Bissaka was linked with a move to the likes of Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves.
But the defender has come into the team in recent weeks and he has put in a couple of encouraging performances.
Ten Hag has subsequently claimed that Wan-Bissaka “has a future” at Man Utd.
“It’s clear, he has a future,” Ten Hag said after United’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Burnley last month.
“He had some good years here at Man United, but from the start this season he had a lot of illnesses and injuries.
“From the restart on, he’s fit, he could train with the team, and you see him progressing. His fitness level is getting better, his performance level is getting better and I’m really happy with his performance [against Burnley].
“If you then give an assist, especially the way he gave an assist, his movement in the right moment, the timing, great pass of course from Bruno, but the assist is great… So I’m happy with his performance, he did good.”
Despite this, talkSPORT are now reporting that Man Utd are interested in signing Walker-Peters as a potential replacement for Wan-Bissaka.
The defender would seemingly be open to a move as he is ‘pushing for a move away from the south coast after stalling on signing a new deal’.
Man Utd have ‘shortlisted’ him but a move to Chelsea is possible as they look for right-back cover with Reece James out injured.
Walker-Peters used to play for Tottenham and his former club are also said to be ‘keeping tabs’ on his situation at Southampton.
While Wan-Bissaka may leave, Victor Lindelof is one player Man Utd are reportedly keen to keep beyond this month.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Atletico Madrid ‘have asked’ United for Lindelof. But the Premier League outfit have ‘rejected’ these talks as Ten Hag ‘wants to keep him’.
Instead, Atletico Madrid are looking at signing Wolves’ Felipe and Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu.
Lindelof was a regular for United under previous regimes but he has only played sparingly this season.
He has been restricted to just four Premier League starts as Ten Hag has preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
