Ronaldo marked his return to Man Utd’s lineup with a Europa League goal.
Erik ten Hag has praised Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford’s linkup in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol.
The Red Devils dominated their Romanian opponents in a Europa League clash on Thursday. Following an opener from Diogo Dalot, Rashford and Ronaldo both scored in the second half to seal the victory for Ten Hag’s side.
Ronaldo has returned from a squad ban after storming off the pitch in his side’s win over Tottenham two weeks ago. But his performance against Sherif has convinced Ten Hag that he might reach his last season’s form.
“It’s up to him. But I think when you collect all the chances he creates, the team creates for him, in the last weeks I’ve been here, you see he is still capable to get into the right positions,” the Man Utd boss said ahead of his side’s upcoming match against West Ham.
“I know he’s capable of finishing that. So, it’s possible.”
Speaking about Ronaldo’s partnership with Rashford he added: “I think [against Sheriff] with Cristiano and Marcus in the attack, that worked very well. I was happy about that.”
Following their match against West Ham, the Red Devils will return to the Europa League, where they take on Real Sociedad in their last group-stage match next week.
