As reported by Sport Bild, Manchester United and PSG have joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani.
The French international insists on leaving Frankfurt this summer regardless if they achieve champions league football or not. Frankfurt bosses have explained that a fee of around €70m-€80m will not be enough. Sporting director Markus Krösche wants at least €100m plus bonuses. Should they not receive such a fee, Frankfurt will try to keep the 24-year-old who is still under contract and has no release clause.
Bayern are willing to spend around €100m on a striker in the summer, despite extending the contract of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The club will take their time in finding the right fit. One of those potential candidates is certainly Kolo Muani.
Manchester United have been monitoring Kolo Muani for several months and inquired about him in the winter. The only potential issue for Man United is the upcoming change of ownership at the club. This stalling of the sale could hold up squad building in the summer.
Another major club in the race is PSG. As a native Frenchman, Kolo Muani could be tempted to head to the capital and play with some of the world’s best. French captain and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé (24) recently spoke highly of the Frankfurt forward: “He offers our team different perspectives, he is able to play placed attacks and quick attacks. He is a technically complete striker with a lot of energy.”
Other clubs that have been mentioned include Chelsea. However, as the team are unlikely to achieve champions league football, it’s unlikely that they could persuade the Frenchman to join over other competitors.
