Goalscoring proved to be a major problem for Manchester United this past season with the Red Devils the joint-lowest scorers among the top 10 teams in the Premier League.

Despite it being his debut campaign in red, Rasmus Hojlund emerged as the top scorer with 16 goals but the 20-time English league champions needed a lot more from their remaining forwards.

Anthony Martial was perennially injured and is now set to leave the club after nine years.

Marcus Rashford struggled throughout the campaign and looked a shadow of his former self with the Mancunian in the spotlight more for his off-field controversies rather than his on-field heroics.

Kilicsoy is hugely in demand

Manager Erik ten Hag was always aware of the risks associated with trusting a 21-year-old to lead the line and asked the Glazers for help last summer and in January, but no help was forthcoming.

INEOS want to remedy the situation and the club have been linked with quite a few strikers with HITC Football once again bringing to light United’s reported interest in Besiktas wonderkid Semih Kilicsoy.

Despite being only 18, the Turk managed 12 goals and three assists in 24 starts and was the club’s top scorer in the league as the team finishing a lowly-sixth.

Interest in the Istanbul-born star is growing by the day with quite a few of Europe’s elites in the race with Arsenal and Manchester City currently in pole position.

“Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United have all asked about Semih Kilicsoy but Premier League giants Arsenal and Man City are still best placed to sign the ‘special’ Besiktas wonderkid.”

Besiktas are likely to demand £22 million for his services and the price should not be a problem for the deep-pocketed English teams.

Apart from being a prolific goalscorer, his technical skills are top-notch and he is two-footed, a hugely attractive trait for any young forward.

Self-confessed Aguero fan

The player is a fan of former City star Sergio Aguero and models his game around the Argentine and is keen to play in the Premier League, which increases the likelihood of a move to the Etihad.

“In terms of my playing style, I find Premier League, Serie A and La Liga suitable for me. I compare myself to Aguero in terms of playing style. My dream is to play in the Premier League,” he was quoted as saying.

United should ideally try and beat City for the talented starlet’s signature but INEOS might have other plans regarding additions up front.

Hojlund needs help and an experienced star might fit the bill better as a young addition might block the Dane’s development and cut into his minutes.
