The two stars of the 2022 World Cup final were on target to earn PSG a 3-0 win over rivals Marseille.
Kylian Mbappe became Paris Saint-Germain’s joint-record scorer on a night when Lionel Messi joined Cristiano Ronaldo as the only other player to score 700 club career goals.
Mbappe and Messi exchanged first-half assists to send PSG into a two-goal lead before the break during Sunday’s Ligue 1 showdown away to title rivals Marseille.
Messi set Mbappe up first in the 25th minute, before the latter returned the favor four minutes later. He assisted Messi for a simple tap-in, taking the Argentine’s tally to 700 club goals – 28 for PSG and 672 for Barcelona.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more senior goals at club level than Messi. The Al Nassr captain has 709 club goals to his name. He reached the 700-goal mark last October by scoring for former club Manchester United in a 2-1 win over Everton.
📊Lionel Messi has scored 700 goals in 840 club appearances during his career.

Mbappe equals Cavani
In the second half, Mbappe equaled former teammate Edison Cavani’s record of 200 goals for PSG.
The 24-year-old striker volleyed in a dinked pass from Messi to enter the club’s record books. The goal capped off a memorable 3-0 Le Classique victory for Christophe Galtier’s side, leaving them eight points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
They will next play Nantes at home this coming Saturday in Ligue 1.
