After their 2-0 triumph over Ghana, Mexico are back in action on October 17 to take on Germany at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennslyvania.
Uriel Antuna and Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano sealed the win for El Tri in their first ever meeting against Ghana. Although Ghana had 54% possession on the night, Mexico were clinical in front of goal and amassed 12 shots, four of them being on goal, to propel themselves to victory.
On the other hand, it was kind of a shaky start for Julian Nagelsmann in his first game as head coach of Germany against the US. USMNT figure Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the first half before Die Mannschaft pulled one back before the interval through Ilkay Gündogan. The 2014 World Cup champions came to life in the second half as goals from Niclas Füllkrug and Jamal Musiala were enough to see off the American side.

Lozano was on point for El Tri against Ghana, scoring his 18th goal for his national team to go along wit his 11 assists in 65 appearances. The PSV Eindhoven player will be looking to replicate the magical moment he had at the 2018 World Cup against Die Mannschaft, where his lone goal propelled Mexico to victory and eventually saw Germany exit at the group stage.
It was also Lozano’s first game back for El Tri since the 2-2 Nations League draw with Jamaica back on March 26 due to a knee injury, as he also was on the scoresheet then, too.
Mexico head coach Jimmy Lozano should have his full squad available for selection as his team came out of the contest with Ghana unscathed.
Mexico predicted lineup vs Germany ( 4-3-3 ): Ochoa; Sánchez, Vásquez, Montes, Arteaga; Sánchez, Álvarez, Chávez; Lozano, Gimenez, Pineda.
Like Lozano, Nagelsmann should also have his entire squad available selection with no new injury concerns after his team’s victory over the US.
This has all the makings of being one of the more entertaining international friendlies this year. Mexico, in front of their passionate fans, will no doubt look to create chances with their nonstop pressing.
Germany, on the other hand, are still finding their feet under Nagelsmann as it will be just his second game in charge. But they looked like they were on the right track against a solid side in the USMNT, and they will also aim to create quality looks at goal with their attacking firepower.
It will be close, and both teams will score twice in an end-to-end contest that will be the first draw between the two nations.
Prediction: Mexico 2-2 Germany
