Divin Mubama has shared a picture of himself wearing a Manchester City training kit on Instagram.

The 19-year-old was a free agent, having left West Ham at the end of June, but the player has confirmed that he has made the switch to the Etihad, stating that it is a “new chapter” for him:

In his previous post on Insta, Mubama had thanked all of those people who had helped him on his way to being a professional footballer at West Ham.

He made 18 appearances for the Hammers (scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist) before deciding to leave the London Stadium.

City have had to pay compensation

Due to Mubama being below the age of 23, West Ham are due compensation, and reports suggest that the Cityzens have paid around £2m for the striker.

The teenager is not expected to become part of the first-team setup straight away, with the club having signed him with the development squad in mind, but injuries may lead to him getting some senior football this season.

Will another striker be signed before the transfer window closes?

With Mubama not likely to play much first-team football, it was assumed that there would be room for additional reinforcements up front, especially after the sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.

The likes of Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi and FC Copenhagen’s Orri Oskarsson have been touted as possible targets but deals for both of those players have been played down in recent days.

It does appear as though manager Pep Guardiola may have to rely on Erling Haaland a great deal to lead the line. That may concern some supporters, considering the Norwegian international is known to pick up injuries.
