Stefan Ortega has signed a contract extension keeping him at Manchester City until the summer of 2026.
There had been speculation that the German would leave the Etihad this summer in search of first-team football, following comments he made back in April.
However, with Ortega now staying, supporters on X now believe it means it greatly increases the chances of Ederson being sold before the transfer window closes:

Why is Ederson looking to leave City?
The Brazilian international is currently earning just £100,000 a week but talks over an extension haven’t proven fruitful.
Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Ittihad, are reportedly circling and Ederson is said to be tempted by the sizeable wages on offer in the Middle East.
Al-Ittihad are thought to have lined up a £25m bid for the Brazilian but the Cityzens are expected to hold out for a fee in the region of £60m.
Will City sign a replacement if Ederson leaves?
Some reports suggest that City are considering a bid for AC Milan goalkeeper and France No.1 Mike Maignan, but his arrival would probably relegate Ortega to No.2 status.
The German is unlikely to have signed his new contract without guarantees over game time so it is anticipated that City will pursue a lower-profile keeper if and when Ederson is sold.
