Sky Germany reports that former RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele is set to return to the Bundesliga and join Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan.
Mukiele is expected to replace Odilon Kossounou who is to join Atalanta on a season-long loan. The 26-year-old joins on a straight loan with no option to buy and he is expected to have his medical on Wednesday. Leverkusen will also cover Mukiele’s full wage and if everything goes to plan he should be in the squad to face Leipzig on Saturday, reports kicker.
The French man is a versatile defender who can not only play as a centre-back but also as a right-back or right-wing back offering another option to play back up to Jeremie Frimpong. Mukiele’s Bundesliga experience will also mean that he can seamlessly slot into the team straight away.
Mukiele spent four years at RB Leipzig playing 146 games and helping the club lift their maiden major trophy in the DFB Pokal in 2022.
