Ruben Loftus-Cheek is officially a player of Milan, joining from Chelsea.

Loftus-Cheek has been a target of Milan for a long time, as Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara wanted him to wear the Rossoneri colors before they both got sacked by Gerry Cardinale.

However, the new sporting management, led by Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani, despite an initial hesitation, confirmed the club’s desire to bring RLC to Milan and concluded the deal with Chelsea.

Earlier this week, the Englishman, who will take up a non-EU spot for Milan – which means they can only sign one more non-EU player this summer – landed in the city. He yesterday had his medical with the club and today (Friday) the official announcement arrived:

“Milan is happy to announce the signing of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea FC. The player has agreed a deal with the Club until 30 June 2027,” a statement reads.

“Born in London on 23 January 1996, Ruben came through Chelsea’s youth sector and made his professional debut for the club in 2014. He played for the Blues for seven seasons, with loan experiences at Crystal Palace during the 2017/18 season and Fulham in the 2020/21 season. At Chelsea, he played 155 games and scored 13 goals, winning 2 Premier League titles, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 League Cup.”

RLC, 27, leaves England for the first time in his career. He will find at the club a familiar face in Fikayo Tomori. It’s believed Milan paid €16m + €4m in bonuses to get the midfielder.
