Junior Messias has completed his move to Genoa today.

Yesterday the negotiations between Milan and Genoa over Messias were reported for the first time, and today it’s official.

The Brazilian leaves the Diavolo after two seasons and from the 2023/24 campaign he will play for the newly-promoted side, after undergoing the medical today and signing the contract.

“Milan can announce that Walter Junior Messias has joined Genoa CFC on loan with an obligation to buy, upon agreed conditions,” a statement reads. “At the same time, the Club has extended Messias’ contract until 30 June 2025. The Club would like to wish Junior all the best in his new adventure.”

The deal of Messias, who scored 6 goals last season for the Rossoneri, was due to expire in 2024 and so the extension is merely a formality to allow Genoa to sign him on this formula. It’s believed that Milan get €1.5m for the loan and will get €1.5m after the obligation is triggered.

The right wing of Milan has been revamped this summer, with Luka Romero, Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze all signed and are new options for Stefano Pioli for this position.
