Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits it will be a challenge to win a fourth Premier League title in a row.

It is not something that has happened since the formation of the league back in 1992, and Guardiola says he is under no illusion about how “difficult” it will be:

“I said many times, no one has won four (Premier Leagues) in a row, never ever. That shows how difficult it is, but now it’s important to be there, especially in the Champions League, qualify for the next round in this period, and after we can just focus on the Premier League. That is the target.”

Guardiola’s side have already lost twice this season but they steadied the ship with a 2-1 win over Brighton at the weekend.

The City boss claims that the treble season took a lot out of himself and the players but they are working hard to find the standards that have allowed them to dominate the English top flight in recent years.

It’s a very open title race

With just a few points separating the top 5 teams at the moment, City know they are in a fight for top spot.

Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and even Aston Villa are currently all in the mix, although you do feel that at least a couple of teams will fall by the wayside by the turn of the year.

City have some tough fixtures coming up

While nothing will be decided this side of Christmas, the Citizens are about to hit a run of games that could define how their season goes.

They have the Manchester derby next weekend, before facing Bournemouth and Chelsea. Directly after the next international break, the Premier League champions take on Liverpool, followed by Spurs at the Etihad.
