Mauricio Pochettino said Chelsea’s win at Brighton keeps alive the club’s ‘dream’ of playing in Europe next season.

Chelsea continued their improvement under Pochettino with a 2-1 win at Brighton on Wednesday, a result that extends the west London side’s run to one defeat in 14 Premier League games.

Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku scored as Chelsea recorded four consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time since 2022, with signs of progress from the Blues in recent weeks after a nightmare start to the campaign.

The win moves Chelsea up to sixth in the Premier League table and continental football will be confirmed if the Blues earn a point in their final fixture against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

“It’s always very competitive, the Premier League is the toughest league in the world,” Pochettino said to Sky Sports.

“Full credit to the players, we fully deserved the victory, that’s why I’m so happy and it allows us to dream to play in Europe next season.

“We need to think about recovery and keep the mentality of going to win and see what happens. The most important thing is belief and performances and the performances and results are really good.

“We dominated from the beginning against a team that’s not easy to play, that’s why we’re so proud and so happy. The evolution of the team is there.”
