Ange Postecoglou has demanded more from Tottenham’s forward players after the club’s winless run stretch to five games.

Spurs have dropped from first to fifth in the table after five Premier League games without a win, following the club’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham on Thursday.

The North Londoners have led in each of those games, becoming the first Premier League team to fail to win after scoring first in five straight fixtures.

Speaking before this weekend’s clash with Newcastle in the capital, Postecoglou has criticised his team for not killing off games and has demanded improvement from those in the final third.

“Like I said in other games, it’s to take advantage of the dominance we have in games and we’re not and that’s keeping oppositions in the game and especially in the second half, we had a couple of defensive lapses, which a team like West Ham will punish you,” the Australian said at his pre-match press conference.

“The football, for it to be brilliant, has got to be there in it’s entirety. I still think our front third has a lot of work to do and unfortunately that’s costing us at the moment in terms of results. But that’s the challenge for us, we’ve got to keep pushing on and trying to become better in those areas.”
