Graham Potter’s Chelsea continues to struggle after his expensively assembled Blues side lost 2-0 at home today to Aston Villa.
Villa’s in-form attacker Ollie Watkins opened the scoring after 18 minutes, when the England international pounced on some poor defending from Marc Cucurella and lobbed the ball over the head of Kepa in the Chelsea goal.
John McGinn sealed the win for Unai Emery’s side in the 56th minute, the Scottish midfielder curling home a powerful side-footed effort from 25 yards out.
Chelsea now sit in 11th place in the table, although Blues boss Potter labelled his team’s display as a ‘positive performance.’
“In both boxes we were second best. The first goal for them is disappointing from our perspective,” Potter told Sky Sports.
”There were a lot of good things in the game, a lot of attacking entries and shots. If you look at the stats of the game it was a positive performance, but in terms of the scoreline it’s not. We’re all really disappointed.”

Potter did though admit it feels like one step forwards and then one step back for his side at the moment.
“Of course. We want to win our home games. There was a positivity about us. The boys gave everything they could.
”It wasn’t for a lack of effort, but at the same time we need to manage the small moments better. So the scoreline tells the story.”
