Newcastle dominate the Premier League’s Player of the Month nominations for October, with Eddie Howe also shortlisted for the Manager of the Month prize.

The Magpies are represented on the Player of the Month shortlist by Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes, all of whom played major roles as Howe’s team took an incredible 16 points from a possible 18, scored 16 goals and conceded only three times.

Almiron scored six times in the Premier League in October, netting in five of his team’s games. Bruno was a driving force with two goals and two assists of his own, while Trippier was part of the mean defensive effort as captain and recorded two assists.

They are joined in the Player of the Month stakes by Manchester City duo Erling Haaland, who walked away with September’s award, and Kevin De Bruyne.

Haaland had eight goal involvements in just four appearances, including a hat-trick in the Manchester derby. De Bruyne registered three more assists and is already now four clear at the top of the league’s assist charts. City boss Pep Guardiola is up for Manager of the Month.

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga gets a nomination as a nod to his return to form, which saw him keep three clean sheets in six games and make at least five saves in three matches.

Granit Xhaka is among the nominees for Arsenal after starring in a slightly more attacking role for the Gunners, which saw him score twice. Mikel Arteta is the final name on the manager’s list.

Brighton’s Leandro Trossard rounds off the Player of the Month shortlist, scoring a hat-trick against Liverpool before further goals against Manchester City and Chelsea.
