The current Premier League record for money spent in a single transfer window stands at €2.25b, which was set during the summer of 2022. Over the course of that window, the English top-flight completed 365 transfers with Chelsea (€282m), Manchester United (€240m) and West Ham (€174m) spending the most between the league’s top clubs. However, that figure now looks likely to be beaten this year.

So far this summer the Premier League has spent €1.85b, which is just €400m short of last summer’s final figure. However, considering the fact that Premier League clubs have only completed 209 transfers so far this summer and the average for each summer window stands at 346, it suggests that we should see at least another 100 moves before the end of August. And many of them will be high-profile moves that demand large transfer fees.

For example, Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Brighton midfielder Moisés Caicedo for a Premier League record of €126m, Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia is set to complete a big move to Chelsea, all while Tottenham Hotspur will likely go on a spending spree once they sell Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. In other words, that €400m gap will likely diminish very quickly over the next few weeks.
