Transfer deadline day gets more hectic with every passing year in the Premier League.
There are so many deals being negotiated and agreed – or falling through altogether – that it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of which players have gone where.
Some signings slip through the cracks and it’s only weeks or even months later when we watch a team on the telly and go “wait, when did he join them?!”
We’re on hand to highlight a few notable transfers that flew under the radar last Friday. It will be interesting to see how these players get on at their new clubs.
Premier League transfers you might’ve missed on deadline day:
Tom Cannon – Everton to Leicester (£7.5m)
After an impressive loan stint with Preston last season, Everton supporters may have felt that Tom Cannon may get his opportunity under Sean Dyche in 2023/24. Instead, the Irish youth international will continue his development at Leicester City, who bought him for relative peanuts. The transfer was surprising when you consider the Toffees’ other business on deadline day, as they loaned out Neal Maupay to Brentford and failed to bring in a new striker.

Andrew Omobamidele – Norwich to Forest (£20m)
Given Nottingham Forest’s flurry of activity in the final moments of the transfer window, we won’t blame you for missing this one. Andrew Omobamidele is still a relative unknown, but is primed for big things. The 21-year-old made his Premier League debut for Norwich City at the age of 19, putting in an impressive performance against Arsenal, just a week after he defended admirably on his international debut for Ireland – when they were up against Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal.

Albert Sambi Lokonga – Arsenal to Luton (loan)
With all of their main transfer business completed well before deadline day, Arsenal spent the final hours of the window finding loan destinations for their young prospects and fringe players. At 23, Albert Sambi Lokonga needs to make the most of his year-long spell at Kenilworth Road if he is to convince Mikel Arteta he has a long-term future with the Gunners. Equally, Luton Town really need him to perform if they are to have a chance of surviving their first Premier League campaign.
Brighton were also said to be looking at a deal for Sambi Lokonga in their search for a Moises Caicedo replacement, but signed Carlos Baleba instead.
Deadline Day XI: The best players to move clubs as window closed
James McAtee – Man City to Sheffield Utd (loan)
While all of the focus was on Cole Palmer’s £45m move to Chelsea, Manchester City sent youngster James McAtee back on loan to Sheffield United. While it is far from a blockbuster deal, City fans were left perplexed by the decision as the squad is looking a bit thin around the edges and they may regret letting one of their talented prospects leave for a year.
McAtee impressed during the Blades’ promotion campaign last term and attracted transfer interest from Leicester City, but City were expected to reject any overtures for the 20-year-old. The Salford native now has his chance to impress Pep Guardiola in the Premier League.

Vicente Guaita – Palace to Celta Vigo (free)
After five years of really solid netminding at Crystal Palace, Vicente Guaita left without much fanfare on deadline day after falling out with the club. Manager Roy Hodgson revealed that the goalkeeper had become “disenchanted” and refused to play in pre-season. He got his wish, securing a free transfer to Celta Vigo
