Paris Saint-Germain have lodged an appeal after the documents for Hakim Ziyech’s move to the club from Chelsea were not registered in time.

PSG had agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign the winger on loan for the rest of the season, but the move was not finalised following an error in registering the documentation before the 11pm transfer deadline.

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea were responsible for sending the paperwork for Ziyech’s move to PSG late, while there was also an issue at LFP (French football’s governing body), whose ‘computer system experienced a breakdown in the evening’.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the clubs are trying to find a solution and PSG will make an appeal in order to validate the deal. Ziyech had completed a medical with the French champions and had travelled to Paris to confirm the deal.

Ziyech was free to leave Chelsea after struggling for regular minutes this season with the 29-year-old having started just four Premier League fixtures.

Chelsea’s new arrivals have since increased competition for places in Graham Potter’s side, after the west Londoners brought in Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke from Shakhtar Donetsk and PSV respectively this month.
