Time running out?
It has been a long and drawn-out process with no end in sight. Paris Saint-Germain have been negotiating for weeks with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Randal Kolo Muani. According to a report by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga side have turned down the latest offer of €80 million and an option to sign Hugo Ekitiké at a reduced price. In other words, Frankfurt would receive around €65m once Ekitiké is factored into the equation. Frankfurt want to reach the €100m benchmark in a potential Kolo Muani deal and also have concerns regarding Ekitiké’s salary, which is in the region of €7.5 million.
At this stage, there is no end in sight of the negotiations, and whether a deal can be struck before the deadline remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, however. Kolo Muani is now putting pressure on Frankfurt to sell him to PSG. “I owe Eintracht Frankfurt a lot,” Kolo Muani said in an interview with Sky Germany. “I’ve taken the fans to my heart and have always behaved in a highly professional way. I always gave everything to the club until the very end. However, it’s no secret that Paris Saint-Germain made a record offer for me. A move to Paris is now a unique opportunity for me. I would like to move to Paris and have also informed the people in charge. I hope and wish that Eintracht will agree to Paris’ offer and that this move will now be made possible for me.”
Kolo Muani joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer from Nantes last summer and is currently signed until the end of the 2026/27 season. The French forward scored 15 goals and 14 assists in 32 Bundesliga games for Frankfurt last season and was also an integral part of the French national team that reached the final of the 2022 World Cup. As a result, Kolo Muani has increased his market value from an initial €16m when he first signed to €80m—the exact amount that PSG have now offered. But that amount of money is not enough for Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche, who has been public about the fact that he would like to receive at least €100m for the French forward.

Kolo Muani: What can the Frankfurt striker add to PSG?
But why are PSG desperate to sign Kolo Muani? Signing Kolo Muani has long been a priority for the Ligue 1 giants. The 24-year-old native of Bondy, a suburb of Paris, has been seen as part of long-term strategy to replace star striker Kylian Mbappé. To that end, PSG have already signed Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica and winger Ousmane Dembélé. Kolo Muani is supposed to be the final piece of a trifecta that is supposed to replace Mbappé by committee if and when the French superstar leaves.
Kolo Muani, after all, picked up an impressive 0.99 goals and assists per 90 minutes for Frankfurt last season. Although, that is significantly short of Mbappé’s output. Together with Dembélé and Ramos, that output should be more than enough to replace Mbappé’s 1.29 goals and assists per 90 minutes. In the short term, Kolo Muani will most certainly be enough to replace Neymar. Finally, the 24-year-old could even provide an argument for Mbappé to stay after all. Mbappé has been impressed by Kolo Muani’s performances at the World Cup and has supported PSG’s attempts to sign the Frankfurt star.
