As previously reported, Real Madrid are keen to sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. This is because they consider the Canadian international to be the ideal replacement for Ferland Mendy, who has been an integral part of the side since joining from Olympique Lyonnais in 2019.

However, recently, the chances of Los Blancos landing Davies have increased due to the fullback’s contract situation. Talks surrounding a new deal have stalled, meaning that Davies’ current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

This means that if Bayern are to receive a fee, then they would have to sell at the end of the season with a year left on Davies’ deal. With Real Madrid the only side showing concrete interest in Davies, Los Blancos would have to offer €50m for his services.

Nevertheless, this is a fee that would work for both sides, making a deal appear more straightforward. Regardless, Der Rekordmeister do not want to lose Davies if they can avoid doing so, and contract talks may soon reopen.

However, as reported via Abendzeitung München, Davies is open to a move to the Spanish capital. This has allowed Real to intensify talks with the Canadian’s agent as a potential move becomes more realistic.
