In an interview with the Guardian, VfB Stuttgart striker Sehrou Guirassy spoke on a variety of topics including his future, the impact of Harry Kane on the Bundesliga as well as what Stuttgart can achieve this season.

Guirassy first commented on the battle to finish as top scorer in the league this season with Bayern Munich striker Kane and how it has affected him as well as the league as a whole: “It’s something big to be competing with Harry Kane, who is a world-class striker. I think he has pushed a lot of strikers in the Bundesliga to raise their level to try to compete with him.” The 27-year-old currently finds himself one goal off of Kane (15) in the goalscoring charts but Guirassy’s injury allowed the Englishman to overtake him while he was on the sidelines.

Stuttgart is not Guirassy’s first experience of the Bundesliga having previously played for 1.FC Köln, the 27-year-old addressed his time at the club and how it has impacted him now: “Maybe I was a little bit too young and I didn’t know myself as well as I do today. I had a lot of injuries but it was a good experience, in sport you have to learn from these things to have success in the future. I’m someone who thinks a lot about the future. Not only in football but in life. Sometimes you have bad times but it’s not the end of your life. It’s important to be able to keep going and never give up.”

With Guirassy’s hot start to the season, it has ultimately led to rumours about a potential departure either in January or next summer, when asked about the rumours surrounding his future, Guirassy said: “I cannot hide these things, everyone knows the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. But at this time I don’t close any doors. There are some very big teams in Europe and it’s not focused only on the Premier League. At Stuttgart, we have such a good team and everything is possible in football. If we can continue to be humble like we have been so far then we have a good chance.”

Guirassy has been out with a thigh injury which he suffered against Union Berlin at the end of October but could feature against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, but only from the bench.
