Over recent weeks, Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Odilon Kossounou has been linked with a move away from the BayArena.
With a number of interested parties from the Premier League, Crystal Palace appear to be the 23-year-old’s likely destination if he were to depart Germany.
The Eagles are set to lose Joachim Andersen to Fulham in the coming days, while Newcastle United are still attempting to lure England international Marc Guéhi to Tyneside.
This has seen Palace linked with Kossounou and Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, whom it is believed they have made a formal approach for.
Nevertheless, the Leverkusen defender is still considered to be a key target for Oliver Glasner’s side, and speaking to RTL/ntv and sport.de, Die Werkself’s sporting director Simon Rolfes commented on the chances of Kossounou leaving before the end of the transfer window:
“I can’t say. In general, he is a player we are planning with. However, it is certainly possible that there may still be one or two changes in our squad.”
From Leverkusen’s perspective, it is clear they are not willing to give anything away.
However, with the club coming close to selling Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich earlier in the transfer window, could they now look at Kossounou as their only sellable asset before the deadline?
