COLDWATER – The Coldwater Cardinal girls soccer team rolled in the battle of US-12 on Monday, blanking the Sturgis Trojans on their way to a 6-0 win.
Four different Cardinals scored goals in the victory, led by Cara Miller and Katie Odell who each notched two goals. One goal each came from the feet of Lily Bockheim and Kyle Barnett to round out the Cardinal scoring.
Recording assists for the Cardinals in the win were Riley Sheets, Ava Gilchrist, Bockheim, and Odell.
Isabella Pool made two saves in goal to secure the shutout win for Coldwater.
In the junior varsity game, the Coldwater JV Cardinals tied with Sturgis by the score of 1-1.
Quincy drops early season contest versus Pennfield
QUINCY – The Quincy Oriole soccer team dropped a heartbreaker last week in varsity soccer action, falling to Pennfield by the score of 2-1 last Wednesday.
Pennfield raced out to the early lead, holding a 2-0 advantage at the half. After the break, the Orioles played with a little more energy, which quickly led to the Orioles’ first goal of the game as Sami Hollenbaugh knocked home a shot to close the score to 2-1.

Quincy continued to battle and saw some solid shots on goal however they were unable to find the back of the net to tie things up, ultimately falling by the score of 2-1.
Quincy and Pennfield both and six shots on goal in the contest.
