Son Heung-min’s South Korea sent Saudi Arabia crashing out of the Asian Cup 4-2 on penalties on Tuesday to set up a quarter-final with Australia, after a nailbiting game ended 1-1.
Substitute Abdullah Radif struck just after coming on at halftime for Saudi Arabia, but Cho Gue-sung equalised deep in injury time to force extra-time, and from there the game went to penalties.
The equaliser was scored in the 99th minute with just seconds left on the clock.
It means South Korea plays Australia in what is a rematch of the 2015 Asian Cup final in Sydney, won by the Socceroos.
It also pits Son — who played in that match — against the nation of his Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who was coaching Australia on that night.
