Stefan Kuntz a cheap alternative option to become Germany’s new coach

Kicker reports that former Germany under-21 manager Stefan Kuntz is a cheap alternative for the DFB to replace Hansi Flick as Germany coach.

Kuntz was recently dismissed as Turkey coach after a 4-2 loss to Japan in the international break, despite the country sitting second in their Euro 2024 qualifying group.

If the DFB cannot sign either Julian Nagelsmann or Louis van Gaal as the replacement for Flick, then Kuntz is seen as a cheaper alternative.

Kuntz is familiar with some of the players who have been integrated into the senior Germany team as players such as Florian Wirtz and Nico Schlotterbeck were key pieces in Kuntz’s team that went on to win the under-21 European Championships in 2021.

Other countries in Europe have promoted former under-21 managers to the senior national side. England promoted Gareth Southgate and have reached a World Cup semi-final and Euro’s final. While Spain appointed Luis de la Fuente after the World Cup who went on to win the Nations League.
