Liverpool has started this season with a bang currently placed in the top 4 of the Premier League and with 2 wins in the group stage of the Europa League, The Reds will be looking to erase the misery of last season and cement a place in the Champions League this season with some silverware along the way.

The Liverpool team this season is vastly different from the one last season with major changes in the midfield, but one player who despite rumours is still at the club is Spanish maestro Thiago. Having made 97 appearances for the Reds in over 3 seasons the midfielder is yet to feature this season. Thiago has met the expectations of fans and manager alike whenever he is on the field but his injuries have certainly derailed his Liverpool career.

Recently Jurgen Klopp has announced another setback suffered by the Spanish man which will keep him out for some more time. With Klopp having players like Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, and Gravenberch in his ranks he has not missed Thiago so far this season but he is the third-highest earner at the club just after Mohammed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, and with his services becoming limited with each passing season, Liverpool can offload him before his contract ends and he leaves for free.

A potential transfer during the winter transfer window is on the cards. His former club Barcelona can get him on the cheap based on their financial conditions but other La Liga clubs like Sevilla and Real Sociedad might also join the race to sign the Spaniard as both clubs regularly qualify for Europe. There was massive interest from Saudi clubs for Thiago but Klopp did not wanna let go of another senior player at that time when all the transfers were yet to be completed.

With Thiago’s contract running out next season and no talks of a renewal currently, Liverpool might agree to sell the 32-year-old for a price as low as 15 million Euros. Italian clubs Inter Milan and Napoli are also on the radar to secure the signature of the Spaniard.

Letting go of Thiago would free up massive wages which can allow the Reds to sign their potential targets like Inacio and Andrade from Brazil and even Krephen Thuram to add to their midfield options.

There were also several rumours from Turkish sides but it seems unlikely that the player would go there as even though injuries have been a major setback so far in his Liverpool career the player is still elite and can play at the highest levels. Klopp can take a U-turn and might utilize Thiago once he returns from his injury as the German doesn’t trust Endo and Bajcetic to start in the Premier League.

Playing Thiago would also allow Mac Allister to play up front in his actual position. A good run from Thiago before he leaves for Liverpool for good can also be possible but chances are slim with his injury concerns.

Liverpool will have to say goodbye to Thiago sooner or later but if the January transfer does happen it would benefit both parties as Thiago will get a new start and Liverpool will also get the money to sign new players to strengthen the team and push for any potential titles.
