Manchester United are considering moves for Porto forward Mehdi Taremi and Flamengo’s Gabriel Barbosa during the January transfer window.
Erik ten Hag’s side have struggled for goals this season and laboured to a 1-0 win at Fulham over the weekend, with the Red Devils having scored just 12 goals from 11 Premier League fixtures this season.
Marcus Rashford has one goal from 10 league appearances, while summer signing Rasmus Hojlund is still awaiting his first Premier League goal. United are understood to be keen to reduce the pressure on Hojlund with the addition of a more experienced centre-forward option in January.
Taremi is a player on the club’s radar, according to the Mirror, and the Porto forward is out-of-contract at the Portuguese side next summer.
The 31-year-old has scored 83 goals in 161 appearances across three-and-a-half seasons at Porto and could be available in a cut-price deal. However, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also said to be considering a move for the Iran international.
United are also looking at Gabriel Barbosa, who is open to a return to Europe after a disappointing spell at Inter Milan. The 27-year-old – who has 18 caps for Brazil – has rebuilt his reputation back in his homeland with 153 goals for Flamengo in 265 appearances.
Barbosa held talks with West Ham last January over a move to the Premier League and could be available for around £20m.
