The transfer window has closed for most clubs across Europe including the top five leagues. But some players can still be signed past the deadline with numerous notable players still free agents after their contracts expired at the end of last season. Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid in one of the biggest deals in the summer after his deal with PSG ended but some players are yet to find new clubs.
While clubs across Europe will spend millions on transfer fees this summer, some will be eyeing some bargain deals for free agents. An abundance of players are now unattached and they hold huge appeal for clubs as they won’t command a transfer fee. Players will be able to talk to multiple clubs and weigh up their options ahead of making a final decision on their futures. But who are the most valuable free agents this summer based on Transfermarkt data? Let’s find out!
The most valuable free agents
Adrien Rabiot is the most valuable free agent at €35 million. The 29-year-old penned a one-year deal at Juventus last summer but he’s now departed the Italian giants to seek a new challenge. Rabiot featured regularly for France at Euro 2024 and he’s attracting interest from AC Milan. At that market value, the France international is comfortably the most valuable free agent on the market due to the fact that the next three players are all worth €10m; Anthony Martial, Yusuf Yazıcı and Memphis Depay. Martial departed Manchester United in the summer after nine years while Depay remains without a club despite featuring for the Netherlands at Euro 2024. Liverpool are embracing a new era under Arne Slot and Joel Matip was considered surplus to requirements, placing him high on this list. Despite scoring 16 goals in Ligue 1 last season for Monaco, senior striker Wissam Ben Yedder is also still without a club for this season. There’s some notable players outwith the top ten most valuable free agents including Dele Alli, Miralem Pjanic, Serge Aurier and Davy Klaassen.
