The Premier League has been home to some devastating duos in the modern era, with a successful strike partnership propelling several teams to success.

Having two attackers on the same wavelength can be a game changer for Premier League teams, but who are the most productive partnerships in the division this season?

Here, we look at the five Premier League duos who have created the most chances for one another so far this season.

5. James Maddison and Son Heung-min – Tottenham (11)

Son Heung-min is one half of the most productive partnership in Premier League history, with the South Korean having combined for a record-breaking 47 goals with long-term accomplice Harry Kane.

Kane’s departure for Bayern Munich broke up Spurs’ superb strikeforce last summer, but Son has found an ideal new compliment in James Maddison. With the former moving into a central role to replace Kane – and Maddison providing creativity in behind – the two have created a combined 11 chances for one another so far this season.

There’s been three goals scored from those chances created, with the Son-Maddison combo the second-best in the Premier League this season in terms of assists.

4. Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard – Crystal Palace (12)

Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard have combined for 12 goalscoring chances this season, as the duo look to shoulder the load left by Wilfried Zaha’s summer exit.

Eze’s form last season saw him break into the England squad and the midfielder is often at the hub of Crystal Palace’s best football, while Edouard has started the season in fine fashion with five goals from 11 games – already matching his Premier League total from 2022/23.

The Eagles will hope Edouard can re-find the form shown at former club Celtic, where the Frenchman netted 89 goals in 196 games and twice finished as the Scottish Premiership’s top scorer.

Despite the dozen chances created for each other, Eze and Edouard are yet to combine for a goal in the Premier League this season.

3. Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland – Manchester City (13)

Julian Alvarez struggled for a regular role at Manchester City last season, but the Argentine has been transformed from Erling Haaland’s understudy to chief support this time around.

Kevin De Bruyne’s absence has allowed Alvarez regular minutes in an attacking midfield role and the World Cup winner has become a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Alvarez and Haaland have created 13 chances for each other this season and directly combined for three goals.

2. Moussa Diaby and Ollie Wakins  – Aston Villa (18)

Ollie Watkins is another centre-forward who has benefitted from the addition of a new signing this season, with Moussa Diaby having formed a fine understanding with the England forward at Aston Villa.

A club-record arrival from Bayer Leverkusen, Diaby has made an impressive start in the Premier League with three goals and three assists. The Frenchman has shone in tandem with Watkins, for a Villa side who are just three points behind leaders Manchester City after a strong start under Unai Emery.

1. Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez – Liverpool (19)

The emerging understanding between Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez is encouraging for Liverpool, with signs of a formidable partnership between the pair.

Nunez has continued to be hit and miss since signing for Liverpool, but the Uruguayan has returned four goals and four assists from six Premier League starts this season. All four of Nunez’s assists have come for Salah, who has been in electric form to reach 10 goals for the campaign by November.

Salah has returned the favour on one occasion, though noticeably has created more chances for Nunez (13) than any other Premier League player for a single teammate. If the latter can sharpen up his erratic finishing, the Reds forward line could run riot.
