Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl has assured fans that further signings will be made.

This summer, Dortmund have already signed former Borussia Mönchengladbach left-back Ramy Bensebaini on a free transfer, while also securing the services of Felix Nmecha from Wolfsburg for €30m. However, BVB are not yet finished with their summer transfer haul and fans should expect further signings to be made.

“Yes, we will still do something, in one position or another. We are observing the market and thinking a lot about what the profiles will look like in the end,” commented Kehl, via Sky Germany. After narrowly missing out on the Meisterschale last campaign, Dortmund will be hoping to improve their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

After the sale of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, as well as losing the influence of Raphaël Guerreiro on a free transfer to Bayern Munich, Dortmund will not panic in the transfer window. Kehl assured that the club will stick to a “planned process with a clear idea and structure – so there is no need to worry: we will have a very, very good team.”

The signing of Nmecha from Wolfsburg could be seen as Dortmund finding their replacement for Jude Bellingham, however, Kehl commented that the Englishman: “cannot be replaced by just one player.” Dortmund have still not ruled out the possibility of signing Edson Álvarez from Ajax after a deal for the Mexican midfielder collapsed in the final stages of negotiations.

Nevertheless, regardless of signings that will be made in the future, the additions of their January transfers will also feel like new signings after a full pre-season with the squad. Julien Duranville and Julian Ryerson joined the Black and Yellows during the winter transfer window, with the latter playing a key role in the Rückrunde for Dortmund.
