Premier League clubs broke the record for transfers during the summer window, spending an incredible £2.44bn on new recruits.
It was £300m more than the last record total, which was £2.14bn last year. Spending in English football continues to rise despite the fact that the global financial climate is far less rosy.
The Premier League seems to be completely isolated from what goes on in other industries and teams continue to shell out sizeable sums to improve their squads.
