Just two league goals in 10

Tottenham Hotspur have completed their first signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma on a loan deal for the remainder of the season. According to the Athletic the deal includes an option to make the move permanent, just 18 months after the 25-year-old talent departed Premier League side Bournemouth in a €23.5 million move to the La Liga side.

With a market value of €35m, Danjuma was heavily linked with a number of English clubs in the January transfer window, including Everton and former club Bournemouth. However, Spurs reportedly joined the race at the last minute and were undoubtedly able to make a more enticing offer to the Dutch forward to join Antonio Conte’s side.

Danjuma initially did very well in Spain, as he hit the ground running in his first season at Villarreal with no less than 10 goals and three assists in 23 league games last season. And, perhaps most notably to English audiences, he also picked up six goals and one assist in an impressive Champions League campaign with the club.

However, the forward hasn’t been as fortunate this time around and has seen his game time at the Yellow Submarine diminish this season. Prior to his move to Tottenham, Danjuma had picked up just 476 minutes of game time in La Liga, picking up just two goals along the way. As such, the forward will surely be hoping to make the most of his temporary move to North London.
