Vincent Kompany is currently being discussed internally at Bayern Munich as a successor to Thomas Tuchel. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who adds that the Belgian coach has been considered an option at several clubs in recent days, with Brighton also looking to appoint a successor to Roberto De Zerbi.

Bayern Munich’s search for a successor to Tuchel has proved difficult. Rejected by Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, who signed extensions with Bayer Leverkusen and the DFB respectively, Ralf Rangnick also decided to remain Austria head coach despite concrete interest from the Rekordmeister.

A potential return for Hansi Flick was also discussed, while until the weekend, it was possible that Bayern Munich could make a U-turn on Tuchel with the German potentially remaining at the club, despite the news that Bayern and Tuchel would part ways at the end of the season. Tuchel since confirmed that this wasn’t the case after failing to reach an agreement.

So as Bayern Munich’s search for a new head coach continues, Kompany’s name has now come into the picture. As further added by Christian Falk, Kompany is a name that fits the profile that Bayern are searching for.

Relegated after finishing 19th, Burnley’s Kompany was of course asked about his future, but refused to comment.

“We’re not going to finish on that question, you can do better,” said Kompany (h/t: Burnley Express) “I’ve ever answered about my future, not once. Not now, never in the future.”
