Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be in the frame to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City if he decides to leave the Etihad in 2025, according to reports.
Arteta was Guardiola’s assistant when he first arrived in England back in 2016, and he has gone on to have tremendous success at the Gunners.
However, supporters on Twitter are rather split on whether they would want Arteta to be Guardiola’s replacement, with some suggesting other potential candidates:
Master then apprentice we will take him back happily

Mikel Arteta or Luis Enrique are the only ones I would consider to replace Pep because the football philosophy is the same. No one else would make any sense. It’s like we’ve been building on this ’tikitaka’ for seven years playing beautiful football, and then pick up Poch? No.

Considering Guardiola has just signed a new contract, it is surprising to hear so much talk about who could replace him. However, it is possible that Guardiola has already told the City board that he won’t extend his stay beyond the 2024/2025 season.
If that is the case then it is important to have a succession plan in place and Arteta would certainly be in the running for the job, considering he has proven himself at the Emirates.
