The LA Galaxy have signed Gabriel Pec from Vasco da Gama in what will be a new record transfer for the Major League Soccer side. Pec will join the Galaxy in a deal worth $10 million (€9.3m) breaking a record set by former star striker Chicharito. (see full statistic). The 22-year-old Brazilian winger has signed a contract until 2028 and will occupy a Young Designated Player spot.

“Gabriel has been a key contributor for one of the biggest clubs in Brazil’s Série A and we are beyond excited that he is choosing to join the Galaxy as the next step in his burgeoning career,” LA Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz said in a club statement. “In addition to his work rate and attacking prowess, he will also be bringing the experience of representing his native Brazil in the qualification tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics when he joins our group. We are thrilled to announce Gabriel as the newest member of the LA Galaxy.”
Pec had an outstanding season with Vasco Da Gama in the Brazilian Série A this season. The winger managed to score eight goals and four assists in 37 league games in 2023. In fact, it was a season in which Pec build on his previous campaign in Brazil’s second division. Making his debut in 2020, Pec has scored 26 goals and 14 assists in 178 senior games for Vasco da Gama.
